What’s that smell?

Stinky but funny.  We have been fighting for possession of our kitchen with a mouse.  He has been winning big lately.   He eats what he wants when he wants and we haven’t been able to stop him.  So my wife(Kathy) decided to cook some nice chocolate chip cookies tonight after supper.  She makes great cookies!  She had been cooking for a short while and began to complain about an oder.  I didn’t smell it at first but then it came on strong.  Wow what a pungent oder!  Oh wow, could it be that we cooked the mouse?  So we had to let the oven cool off and air out the house before we passed out.  After it cooled I began looking for the body.  For the record, I don’t like rodents.  I can’t find the body so I began taking our oven apart.  I got the top completely off and I see all the evidence of a mouse but no body.  I’m messing around with the inside of the oven and out pops the muse and runs down to the bottom of the oven.  Scared me to death.

I kept banging the oven and he finally came out the bottom began scooting across the floor.  Kathy began trying to play broom hockey with him but didn’t even get close.  He shot under the fridge.  So we go through the same routine with the fridge.  This time my mom has a broom too.  Yep, there goes Mr. Mouse and the hunt is on.  I’m running from the mouse and both crazy ladies with brooms.  I don’t know which was more dangerous to me.  We never touched the mouse but we did put a scare in him.  I’m gonna bait some more traps tonight, maybe I can finish the job without tearing the house up.  Have a great Friday and thanks for stopping by JohnsonCountyEvents.com .

What a great day!

There is a little chill in the air in Johnson County.  We are having comfortable days and cool nights.  Next week is Thanksgiving.  Only 2 more school days before the holidays for most school districts.  It’s getting closer to Christmas.  The radio stations are beginning to play Christmas music(103.7).  I just might have to go get some egg nog.  It’s just a great time to be alive!

We mad some additions to the JohnsonCountyEvents.com page.  We have added some more events to the Christmas Events listings.  There will be a craft show this Saturday at one of the Burleson churches.  We added listings for all the Chambers of Commerce.  We also added a Restaurant Review page by request.  If you have a favorite eating place in Johnson County email us and we will be glad to put the word out for all to see.

Heading to Austin

My kid is looking at St. Edwards University in Austin for the next phase of her life. So we are taking a trip down that way shortly. We’ll probably spend few days there and soak up some local culture. If you have any recommendations for things to see and do please send it my way.

Gas Well Fire

I just got a call and there is a large gas well fire about 2 miles from my house.  Lot’s of rescue vehicles on the scene.  Looks like it’s off of CR 1010 and HWY 171 between Godley and Cleburne.  Doesn’t look good.  Hope everyone is OK.  We may have to evacuate.

Latest News

It looks like the cooler weather is making a visit with Johnson County now. Bad timing. It hit yesterday afternoon and we were going to the Godley HS football playoff game last night. It wasn’t real cold but the north wind was brutal. It played havoc with the boys also. They played tough but lost to Troy 35-14. Congratulations Godley you have had a great season.

The Rio Vista HS band is under the spotlight this week at JohnsonCountyEvents.com . Please take a few minutes and check out the video and listen to some great music.

We have also begun a list of Christmas Events in Johnson County. We have lots of parades and concerts listed. If you want to ad your event please email it to us and we’ll get it up. Only 41 days until Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

Please Support the Johnson County Humane Society

I got a letter today from the North Texas Humane Society.  It seem s that with all the job losses that are going on the humane society is picking up more animals.  They want to remind everyone that there is more need now because of these orphaned pets.  So I’m asking you to please support the Johnson County Humane Society.

Also the Johnson County Area Real Estate Investors Organization is having a get you picture taken with Santa event.  The event happens on Dec. 4 from 5-8pm at FNB Burleson.   Please bring an unwrapped toy to support the local charities helping needy kids.  Click here to go tot he webpage.
